Just met my new boss.
She is young, really nice, a creative writing major, and very intelligent. I have a feeling she will be a good boss, just like my last boss.

Apparently I'm sick?
I have this weird thing where I don’t even notice that I’m ill until it’s way too late to have done anything about it, if I notice at all. In class today I was just kinda doing my usual resting my chin on my hands and fidgeting and stuff and lo and behold my lymph nodes are swollen something fierce.  After I realized that I was like, “Oh…  well yeah I guess my throat...

hellaciousbrother: i kinda like the fallout ones better The Vault Dweller The Chosen One The Lone Wanderer The Prisoner The Initiate The Courier The Warrior all cool, super cool Yes, yes, The Courier is one of those phrases that just kinda makes the hair on my neck stand up.  It’s so simple but represents so much about the character’s place in the world.

Prototype is a really good game you guys.
It does a good job of making me feel powerful and deadly without making me feel like that’s a good thing. I mean first of all the difficulty, both initially and curving, is pitch perfect (at least for me).  And the different powers are strategically useful, and once you master flipping through them on the fly you feel like you’re unstoppable (until you run into something that stops...

This movie looks pretty interesting. →
The trailer just kinda puts out this, “What would happen if some kids got their hands on incredible power that they’re in no way capable of handling maturely?” vibe that I am always really interested in. Something about the deconstruction of common daydreams, revealing them as horrifying things that nobody should really want to happen, is just deeply appealing to me.  I hope...

They’re doing you a service, those phone contacts of yours, by paying for your privilege of hearing those dulcet tones and rhythmic thumps while you wait for their voicemail to kick in. Bad Technology Idea
Allowing people to change the tone you hear when you call them from the normal ringing to thirty seconds of their favorite song, looped. Aside from the fact that the audio quality of a telephone call makes absolutely every song sound a little bit like the wailing of demons, there are just far too many people who do not consider the idea that not everybody who calls them likes their taste in...

The Stretch headphones →
Gustavo has a pair of these and they are ludicrously comfortable.  Someone else aptly described them as like wrapping your ears in a cloud. There is pretty much no way I won’t be buying these in the near future.  The biggest problem I’ve ever had with headphones has been comfort over long periods of time, and Gustavo says he wears them for hours without any issues.

haggady replied to your post: The Worst Things About Writing for the Internet so basically, democratization of content combined with gatekeeping? Well, gatekeeping works for some things and not others, I think.  Advertising steps in for the latter. Maybe a combination of both is ideal?  Lots of Android and iOS apps work that way.  Either you pay a fee or you get ads, and either way the makers...

The Worst Things About Writing for the Internet
I’m catching up on Cracked.com; can you tell? Article link. This one was interesting to me mostly because I’ve often considered The Internet as a medium to publish my fiction.  Toward the end of the article, the very last paragraph, DOB mentions that it’s still worth it because the democratic nature of internet publishing lets people succeed when they otherwise would not. ...

michifun asked: It's more about the format of your statements. In law we are trained never to assert things that are merely conjectures. In fact, in court we typically say "I submit" (not "I contend" or "I assert") before such statements. If we want to persuade someone of a possibility, it MUST be backed up with likelihoods, evidence and its weight, citations of past examples,...

michiforjoy replied to your link: Gladstone of Cracked.com provides a cogent critique of the Occupy Wall Street movement. I’ve heard counter-arguments to the effect of still working to be inclusive and getting everyone realizing they have a stake in this by keeping it open (like, airing of grievances). And then later focusing this even larger group onto specific goals. The problem with that...
