Interestingly, I’ve also seen guys subjected to this same kind of attitude (in the context of having been married for a while, at least). And I mean specifically an attitude dismissing the idea that they might have made a sound decision on the matter already.
Some people just don’t understand that a person may reasonably not want children. They think of raising children as the endgame of adulthood, and forgoing it like stopping short of winning life.
My saying this is not a dismissal of the feminist issues this quote brings up! I’m positive the pressure is very disproportionate between men and women. I just also think it’s interesting that there’s this underlying assumption that everyone wants babies eventually.
